Save the Date!! – Wednesday August 10, 2011 in the Great Hall at 6:30 PM. Please join us for an evening of worship, reflection and inspirational stories as the Student Ministry hosts an evening of review of all that God has done among us, through us and in us over the past few months. Unseen video footage of Medina, Coker Creek, Baptisms, and service projects will be on display in an atmosphere of worship and prayer. Make plans now to join us!

Camp Coker Creek 2011

In just a few short weeks, we will be leaving for Camp on Sunday, July 10, 2011. Applications will be mailed to everyone who has pre-registered for camp. Please be sure to complete all of the application pages, sign all forms and return them with final payment to the church office. If you are traveling or vacationing over the next couple of weeks and need to mail in the forms, please send them to the attention of Vera Phipps. Please be checking the student ministry website regularly for updates about camp.

2011 Medina: Day Seven

This past week has gone by so fast and we cannot believe it is over. God has done incredible things here, from working on various projects to interacting with the residents. Love was the common theme throughout the week. We finished some big projects such as the warehouse. We worked on clearing cedar for four days, and we helped start a year long project that will be of great benefit in the future. I am proud of this team. They are truly selfless students, and they are filled with the Holy Spirit. We thank you for supporting and being part of this team. You have made a difference just by praying for us. 2011 Medina: Day Five

Sunday was a day of rest. We want to thank Kerrville Church of Christ for letting us worship with them. Later in the afternoon we prepared box dinners for everyone and led a devotional. 2011 Medina: Day Four

Howdy y’all! Saturday was a big day for Arms of Hope and Woodmont Student Ministry. Arms of Hope hosted an inner city football camp in San Antonio, and our students got the chance to help out the coaches and make a difference in kids’ lives, not to mention we met some awesome Super Bowl winning NFL players. There was also the biggest event that we put together every time we’ve been here, and is considered to be a very important reason for why we are here: the Woodmont Fiesta Dinner! We fed over 200 people, and there is still enough to eat for the next month. Hope you enjoy, and continue to pray for us. Thank you for being part of this team, and God bless!

2011 Medina: Day Three

Everything is moving smoothly here in Medina, TX. We are working on a ton of work projects to keep us busy. There is a Spirit filled passion in the eyes of these students and every single student is putting their hearts into their work. Students don’t want to stop working when the day is done. The Spirit is very present here and Arms of Hope has done an incredible job of hosting us. We cannot thank them enough for their efforts in feeding us. Today was a continuation of projects from yesterday and there were some new projects added in also. We also want to congratulate the Medina Children’s Home Class of 2011! 2011 Medina: Day One

We have left the building and we have reached Medina Children’s Home in Medina, TX. We have completed our first day and we have six more full, action packed days ahead. This is the first of seven daily video updates of our team’s work status in Medina. Check back here tomorrow of the second day of our trip. Student Mission Team 2011

Our reflection on last year’s effort is the inspiration for this year’s investment. If you would like to help, please contact Vera at the Student Ministry office by emailing vphipps@woodmont.org for more information. We need and appreciate your help. Thanks for reflecting on all God accomplished in 2010 and watch for updates on what He does next in the coming weeks!

Our student team is in place to serve the needs of the Medina Children’s home from May 31 – June 9. We need team members who will commit to praying for this effort while we are there. We also are inviting folks to be a part of the financial support team to help us provide basic needs for the home and the children and families they exist to serve. Please see the Medina Team Station in the lobby for more information about ways you can be a significant part of this effort.

Camp Coker Creek 2011

Registration is ongoing for Camp. To lock in your spot for camp pick up a registration card in the student center or download one right here Camp Commitment Card 2011 and return it with your $75 deposit. Cards can be turned in to the Student Ministry mailbox on the children’s information desk or mailed to the church office to the attention of the Student Ministry. The cost of camp is $230 ($205 for those registered before May 1st). Camp Coker Creek will be July 10th-15th and is open to all incoming 7th graders through graduating High School Seniors. More details will be posted as soon as they are available.

Based on information provided to the student ministry office from the schools, the dates for the Medina Children’s Home mission trip are May 31 – June 9. Details about the trip have been sent out directly to participants.
